Welcome to our website
Welcome to Grow to Learn. We work with primary schools in the West Midlands delivering curriculum through food growing opportunities.
Our aim is to get children involved in growing food whilst also developing their science, maths, literacy and listening skills. We offer tailor-made packages for each class, both outdoor and indoor, focusing on food growing and healthy eating.
"We really enjoy gardening and look forward to it all week" Maleeha
"My favourite part is seeing the plants and vegetables that we have grown" Sidra
"We love gardening and wish we could do it more often" Elsa
The children in year 4 love gardening and take real pride in the things they have grown (class teacher)
It's not just growing vegetables! We specialise in intervention projects, and work within a wide variety of settings with the aim to deliver the following outcomes:
- Growing self-esteem
- Delivering curriculum
- Learning skills for life
- Developing co-operation
In the morning we were digging, weeding, painting stones and planting onions and over wintering peas with year two on an allotment site about 25 minutes from school. For the first hour of the afternoon with year one, we cleared some of the school beds ready for the spring and planted some daffodil bulbs. After playtime we went inside to make potato salad using some of the potatoes grown in school and herbs from the allotment.
We offer very flexible sessions. Do you need cover for PPA times? We can make regular weekly or monthly visits to schools, or do you want help with a larger project involving children from across the school working together.
